Antibiotic use is the most important risk factor for the development of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). CDI risk is driven by the duration of antimicrobial exposure, as well as the class of antimicrobial agent. This study of long-term residents in Canada accurately quantifies risk and provides a risk assessment tool useful for any antibiotic prescriber.
