Although procalcitonin (PCT) has been proposed for stewardship programs (including in ICU) to reduce the initiation and continuation of unnecessary antibiotic therapy, concerns exist that PCT may not have adequate sensitivity for bacterial inflammation. Thus, the objective of the study was to assess the real-world sensitivity of PCT for bacteremia among hospitalized patients.
